Puzzle Details
The DRD was designed and built by Andrew Cormier in 2009.
It consists of a 3d-printed core with 8+6=14 arms which hold 24 visible pieces.
The 12 provided colours are:
- yellow
- light yellow
- white
- grey
- blue
- light blue
- green
- light green
- red
- orange
- pink
- violet
Weight: 136g
Size: height 6.5cm (= long rhombus diameter), rhombus edge length 4cm, short rhombus diameter 4,5cm.
The puzzle is sold in two variations, a completely assembled and a DIY version.
The DIY version comes with some spare pieces and three springs and six small rings.
When assembling the puzzle yourself, it should be considered not to sticker the puzzle immediately, but leave it as it is for 3-6 months. Otherwise you'll see bubbles arising under the stickers more and more (as I do currently).
It is not so easy to assemble the puzzle properly and my one (I am unexperienced!!) has the interesting effect, that it is much easier to perform clockwise turns while anti-clockwise ones are usually blocked. So far I have no reason for this, the pieces look excellently casted. But I haven't spent too much time on it.
I advise to buy the fully assembled and adjusted version...
